WANdisco Wins STP Business Of The Year Award

WANdisco has been named the Sheffield Technology Parks Business of the Year 2009.

WANdisco Inc, a leading provider of distributed software development solutions moved their European HQ from London to Sheffield in December 2008. With international headquarters based in Silicon Valley and offices in Tokyo, the arrival of WANdisco Inc in Sheffield was a further demonstration of Sheffield's growing reputation as the ideal base for creative and digital industries. WANdisco Inc saw the potential of operating in the heart of the UK's CDI sector and has based their European HQ at STP.

Ross Bray, Director of Offshore Operations at WANdisco, cited STP's position within the city, access to local and national transport links and its close ties with other like minded businesses as being key to the move last year. STP's incubation ethos that encourages and aids business growth fulfilled WANdisco Inc's requirements for a European HQ in Sheffield.

The runner up was Oil Management Services Ltd, a pioneering company that specialises in developing sensor technology for greater economic and environmental benefit.

The STP Business of the Year Award was announced at STP's 'Inspiring Event' at the Millennium Galleries featuring Irish Marketing Genius, Professor Stephen Brown, a controversial and outrageously inspiring speaker. Peter Wood CEO of Sheffield Technology Parks announced the winner and Professor Stephen Brown presented the award to Ross Bray.

Peter Wood said: "We are delighted that WANdisco has been announced as STP's Business of the Year for 2009, ahead of some strong competition. It is particularly pleasing to celebrate the success of a Silicon Valley based company who have fairly recently established a new base in Sheffield. It's good news for the city and for STP!"
