andymayer.net

Name
Andy Mayer – andymayer.net

Where are you based?
City Centre Site

What do you do?
andymayer.net specialise in Web 2.0, online communities, collaboration and social networking.  We help a range of clients build successful online communities that support their business objectives by connecting users together.

What stage is the company at?
andymayer.net has gone through the whole business incubation process.

We started out in a home office then moved into Sheffield Technology Parks on the rent-a-desk scheme. We later moved into a three man office, before moving into the new West Wing grow-on space.  We are now planning to move out and branch out on our own in bigger premises in the new Electric Works building.

During this time we have exceeded our High Growth Start Up turnover target. We currently employ four people and are looking to recruit more by end of the 2008.

Why did you choose Sheffield Technology Parks as the location for your business?
We chose Sheffield Technology Parks because of the great location and the credibility that being based at a technology park gives to a new technology business.

Sheffield Technology Parks has also offered us excellent flexibility for growth and allowed us to keep the same address despite moving office three times.

How have Sheffield Technology Parks helped you?
Most of our business comes through working in the business incubator environment and the network of companies that being a client of Sheffield Technology Parks offers.

Sheffield Technology Parks also helped us to get Objective One funding to attend a major industry conference when we were just starting out.

andymayer.net would not have grown as quickly as it has without being situated in Sheffield Technology Parks. Techies are not naturally good at networking so I’ve been extremely glad of the support.

The whole process of starting a business is accelerated by being housed in a business incubator.
